A Heartbeat Away
If you’ve been reading me, you remember this space late last year describing “An Elephant in the Room.”
That was about President Biden’s state of cognition and stability – both mental and physical. That was not meant as criticism but as observation. When people get old, like me, we generally lose some of the capabilities we had as younger folks – some more than others.
There are certain jobs that are better performed by younger vs. older people.
As seniors, we hope we bring some wisdom to the party while recognizing we may no longer be the life of it.
This space is not about what old age can do to one’s abilities, but about having the capability to begin with.
That’s why this week it’s about Vice President Kamala Harris.
I spent some time last week discussing identity politics, particularly the race card.
The woke crowd has everyone in the country identified with one or more groups. The reason that’s important to them is because they believe in ‘group think’ – that all persons identified with a certain group think the same thoughts, behave the same. So, for example, time is spent on the number of people with black skin who may deviate from the norm and not vote Democratic this November. The same for those with Hispanic heritage. None of us are individuals anymore – in contrast to what our Constitution is about.
I submit that one of the scariest things from a nation’s perspective is having a Vice President who is obviously a duck out of water, and a heartbeat away from being President.
I have nothing against VP Harris personally. I’m sure she’s a loving spouse, a loving mother and generally a good, kind person.
She was the CA Attorney General prior to becoming a Senator. She didn’t last long in 2019 when she announced her candidacy for president. She couldn’t generate any excitement, much less interest.
Now comes Joe Biden who out of his Delaware basement won the Party’s presidential nomination, then named Kamala Harris as his running mate.
She was chosen by Biden and his handlers because she is a black skinned woman. She meets two woke identities at the same time – black and female.
In Biden’s bent on DEI – diversity, equity, and inclusion – Harris doesn’t need to have exhibited the ability to be vice president, or the leadership qualities required to be a good president. She fills two woke identities, so she gets the job.
Never mind her not accomplishing much as Border Czar or overseeing and shepherding artificial intelligence (AI) for the government and the country, her approval ratings basically match those of President Biden. She has a 38.2% approval rating and a 51.2% disapproval rating as of early May.
The fact is she was chosen to run as VP because she’s a black woman – period. She has tangential experience in management. She apparently has major problems with her own WH staff – most of whom have left her environs. But she fits the DEI program. And the supposedly elite were so proud to affirm how the ballot provided an opportunity for a minority (diversity) to be a VP (equity) and included after all the other (better) choices.
You see, DEI is not about hard work, putting in the time and effort – aka, earning the accomplishment of a goal, or meriting the spot in an organization chart. It’s about giving victims a chance to be somebody – regardless.
DEI puts knowledge, experience, and competence behind victimhood.
It’s a throwback to the found to be unconstitutional nature of “affirmation action.”
So, here we are. Should something happen to President Biden, the country will be led by Kamala Harris.
The idea smashes through and exceeds the Peter Principle. Those older of us remember that concept of people in hierarchical organizations tend to be promoted until they hold a position for which they are incompetent.
In my mind Harris as president would be multiple times beyond ability and competence.
When did politics (and DEI) become more important than the country?
One heartbeat away.

Have a great and prosperous week.

This week’s trivia question is: What does “Hakuna matata” mean? The answer to last week’s – the only bird that can fly backward: Hummingbird. Its flight patterns reveal that it can fly forward, sideways, and even backwards – and they can hover in place. This type of flight is usually observed when the birds retreat from one flower to move to another. Such a midair acrobatic maneuver is not seen in any other bird. They can beat their wings very fast – 80-200 times/second.

Toyota has developed what’s called a thermally efficient internal combustion engine (ICE) that can run on gasoline, synthetic fuel, biodiesel, and hydrogen. This new engine is physically smaller than the regular combustion engine but is more fuel efficient and can produce more power. While the concept can run on a variety of fuels, including hydrogen, the short-term goal is to incorporate these new efficient engines into a hybrid drivetrain.
President Biden told us he was “shutting down” the border. Apparently Border Patrol didn’t get the message.
222K+ jobs were added in May. Before we start celebrating, however – the unemployment rate went up, the most hiring was done by government, job growth was concentrated on part-time workers, and more non-Americans were hired than citizens.
