Transgenderism – Blurring the Lines

If you think you’re a member of the opposite sex, you are.

When you believe that statement and become an advocate for it, you’re ‘woke.’

Transgender has become one of the latest rallying cries heard regularly in the United States by the ‘cancel culture’ segment. They tell us they’re about eliminating discrimination and hate generally, and transgenderism is just one example of where discrimination and hate exist in the country.

I don’t know about you, but before transgender became headline news here, I hadn’t even thought about it. That’s to say I was not only ignorant but hadn’t given a thought to discrimination and hate of transgenders.

Frankly, now that I’m more aware of transgenderism, I could care less about whether a man thinks he’s a woman or vice-versa.

But advocates of the woke culture now tell us sex depends on the anatomy, gender depends on the culture of a society. That male and female are sex categories while masculine and feminine are gender categories. Get it?

I don’t.

Just so you know how to think, homosexuality and transgender are two separate concepts. Homosexuality refers to romantic/sexual attraction or behavior between people of the same sex, while transgender is a matter of gender identity, meaning that a person identifies as a different gender than the one they were assigned at birth.

The following is lifted from a LGBTQ+ web site:

  • For example, transgender may refer to a person whom a doctor assigned as male at birth, but that person identifies as female, and vice versa.
  • However, transgender does not always refer to the binary transition between male and female.
  • Some people may refer to themselves as transgender as they identify with a gender that is neither male nor female, a mix of the two, or someone whose identity changes from male to female at different points.
  • Some other genders that fall under the transgender umbrella include non-binary, genderqueer, genderfluid, no gender, or multiple genders.

That excerpt certainly clears it up for all of us. Right?

So, we have a strong lobby for transgenders in Washington. Its moniker is the LGBTQ+ lobby – where L=lesbian, G=gay, B=bisexual, T=transgender, Q=queer and +=everything else.

Sticking with the transgender theme and attempting to identify how many people consider themselves transgender, the data on the numbers is based on surveys that respondents voluntarily take. Using that data compiled in 2016 – in the United States, approximately 0.58% of the adult population identifies as being transgender. Based on that data, federal and state governments have passed various laws to protect them from discrimination.

That’s all fine. But many of us start to have problems with sex and gender identity when it’s taken too far into our culture and system.

For example, Florida’s recently passed Parental Rights in Education act — which critics have dubbed the “Don’t Say Gay” bill — has suddenly sparked a national war of words. Know the “Don’t Say Gay” bill does not in fact say “gay” anywhere in its text.

Supporters of HB 1557 say it would give parents greater control over their children’s education, vindicating their “parental authority.” Conversely, opponents say it would unfairly target the LGBTQ community — particularly gay and transgender students.

The bill says classroom instruction on “sexual orientation or gender identity may not occur in kindergarten through grade 3 or in a manner that is not age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards.”

While we know we start to understand the difference in the sexes at an early age, we also know that 5–8-year-olds don’t understand how a boy can actually be a girl and vice-versa. To advocate for instruction to those young kids as to being one of the LGBTQ ‘community’ or not goes beyond their level of understanding and likely their self-gender-identities at that age.

And when you look at the numbers previously cited, why expose, and teach kids just learning to reason what will likely be confusing to them? Casual or inquisitive conversation is fine, but not formalizing the curriculum to instruct them on LGBTQ issues. Let’s let young kids be kids learning and playing with each other without adult baggage.

The other thing that’s been taken too far for me and others, is the denial of the difference in physical characteristics between males and females.

In athletics where rewarding physical strength and stamina is normal, it’s not fair for a born male to compete against born females. The Penn U. swimmer, transgender Lia Thomas, recently set this year’s NCAA record for the time in the 500 “women’s” freestyle. Thomas has obliterated records set by generations of female swimmers since leaving UPenn’s men’s team and joining the women’s team – after claiming to have “transitioned” to become a woman. BTW, s/he has had so surgical changes.

To be woke, I’m supposed to think it’s OK. Therefore, I am not woke because I don’t. I feel for the girls and women who have worked so hard to compete against other females and having to face a biological male to achieve their athletic goals. To require them to do so is itself discrimination.

But our Dept. of Education, using Title IX and the Equal Protection Clause prohibit discrimination against students because of their sex, including a transgender student athlete. The NCAA has followed suit.

So far 17 states have passed legislation disallowing transgender girls and women from competing against born females.

The US has a history of fighting discrimination.

When it comes to transgenders, that history has been ignored and compromised.

Even our newly appointed Supreme Court Justice couldn’t answer the question of ‘What is a woman?’ She said she couldn’t answer because she’s ‘not a biologist.’

The lines are now unnecessarily “blurred” in too many minds.

The tyranny of the minority refers to the power wielded by a highly motivated, unbending minority that projects outsized influence.

Hello transgenderism!

SPIDER Bites

Do you know why wind turbines are built with three blades instead of two? The science says two-bladed windmills are more efficient – but unstable because they suffer a whipping’ effect and are subject to self-destruction. More than three blades and they become more inefficient again. Ergo, three’s the number.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the UN’s arm on climate change, reported that clinging to fossil fuels will make the world unlivable by the end of this century. Only thousands of regulations, treaties and laws will fix it. That’s the supposed science, folks. Wear a mask and use earplugs.

Just in case you missed it, a start-up group calling themselves Donors of Color Network want to provide $100 million annually to benefit minority groups that are ‘disproportionately’ harmed by extreme weather events. It’s called environmental justice. Call something ‘justice’ these days and be heralded by the woke crowd.

With positive March numbers, total employment is still 1.6M less than pre-pandemic levels. The labor participation rate was 63.4% in March 2020 – in March 2022, 62.4%, although it doesn’t count the 2 million plus that have crossed the southern border the last year. As a reminder, the labor participation rate is the number of people ages 16 and older who are employed or actively seeking employment, divided by the total non-institutionalized, civilian working-age population.

Sticking with the March jobs report, the unemployment rate was 3.6%. Economists believe the ideal unemployment rate is between 4 and 4.5%. Why? It may sound counterintuitive, but when it falls below 4% weird things can happen, including some pressure on inflation and reduced productivity. On the latter point, recent studies by software company Aternity and TechRepublic, an online trade publication for IT professionals, indicate working from home has reduced productivity 14%.

The EU recently froze Russia’s foreign exchange reserves – in a crass violation of international law and their contracts with Russian oil/gas providers – as part of the sanctions against Russia. So, what did Putin do? Starting last Thursday, all payments for oil/gas must be made in rubles or no fuel. Boomerang! When will the US and the EU leadership get off their high, moral horses and sit down with Russia and Ukraine to seek a diplomatic solution to the war?

Southern Border Control has been, and is, granting “paroles” to immigrants – meaning with the border overwhelmed with the numbers, there’s no time for vetting, they give all of them cell phones and ask that wherever they settle they voluntarily report to ICE. Starting next month this administration is removing denial to enter based on COVID infections, so the door will open wider. Have you and I had anything to say about this? Have our congressional representatives done anything about this fiasco? No.

NYC launched a campaign of digital billboards and social media ads in Florida last week inviting LGBTQ+ members and supporters to take up a welcoming residence there. Good luck, Mayor Adams.
